How to Grow Cinnamon Basil from Seed

# 1 | Prep your planting space. Cinnamon basil prefers full sun, and plenty of water along with fertile, well-draining soil. Like other basil types, cinnamon basil is a heat-loving and is especially susceptible to frost damage.

# 2 | Cinnamon basil seeds can be sown directly in a planting pot in the spring after all chance of frost has passed, or you can start your seeds indoors about 6 weeks before the average last frost.

# 3 | Thoroughly wet planting soil, and place 3-4 seeds in each pot, at a depth of 1/10-1/4 inches. Keep your soil moist, until seeds have sprouted.

# 4 | Cinnamon basil seeds usually sprout in 7-14 days. Once your lemon basil seedlings have their first true leaves, thin to one or two plants per pot. Protect your cinnamon basil plants from wind and sun for the first 7-10 days.

# 4 | To get the highest yield of tender and flavorful leaves, pinch the tip of each branch, starting in early summer when the plants are 6" tall, to encourage bushiness.
